The funny thing is, when things are "trendy"—like this style of UI design at the moment—it is that stuff that all looks the same and the work that is simple and timeless is the stuff that actually stands out. The same goes for fashion. And personally, I like fashion that is functional and comfortable because if you're not comfortable, people can tell. When everyone wears the same "new trend", it breeds blending in. When you wear what you truly like whether it's trendy, simple, functional, or whatever style you're into, that's when you're actually authentic.
