I'm very similar to you — was self diagnosed a couple years ago and officially diagnosed earlier this year.
Everything just makes sense now to me — looking back on my whole life. I never really had a hard life, but I just always felt different. Always felt like I should BE and ACT different from how I wanted to... so I did (mask). A lot. But since knowing i'm autistic I can honestly say I'm much better off — even if advocating for who i am and actually being my authentic self is a challenge in todays world.
There are SO many of us out there like this and I wish the media portrayed more of it at least so people were much more aware of what autism ACTUALLY looks like. We have so far to go.
