I agree 100%. I AM diagnosed but was self diagnosed for 2 years prior. The only reason I got diagnosed was because I joined a waiting list right away before I really knew and it took that long (if I wanted it to stay free). When they called me I was like “well… sure, why not, if it’s free.”

I’m so freakin glad I did not pay $2k for my diagnosis assessment though. Although my assessors weren’t the worst, I could tell it was a bit of an outdated thing AND my 4 page document they sent me confirming autism is a bit of an ableist joke. It mostly talks about my weaknesses compared to being neurotypical, a lot of childhood things, etc. and I just don’t care to read it. It’s not even written well. 🫠
